Mother Nature's Cruelest Joke...

..just might be teething (besides PMS, puberty and menopause)

Poor little guy is working on teeth number 5 & 6 since we arrived in Ethiopia 3 months ago.

Right now his 2 bottom canine teeth are half way up and his top 2 are just starting to make their way thru the gums.

Yesterday he could have filled a swimming pool with the drool...he has been feeling so awful and I think the fever came with the teeth pushing.

His temp. is back down to normal today thank goodness.

Thanks for all the well wishes and advice :) it was much appreciated!

We had a celebration when both my boys finished teething, it can be horrible for some kids. There are some homeopathic remedies that we had some great success with, plus when it gets really bad Motrin or Advil usually work better because they are anti-inflamatory drugs.

Oh and popsicles, the coldness is fantastic plus the popsicle lifts their spirits. We use to go through boxes and boxes of them, but the boys rarely ever have them now they are done teething.

Ahhh. Poor little guy and poor mommy! We were blessed with having both kids pretty much done with teething when we met them- at 2 Meski even had her 2 year molars through and at 4 P was pretty much done with cutting his 6 year (now he's on to wiggling his 4 wiggly teeth). Oh I remember the pain of J& T's teething- T would be sick with double ear infections and lung infections with each tooth...
Not sure if you know about these, but there is a homeopathic teething tablet (check at a health food place)that saved our lives! And fyi, that oragel stuff that numbs kids gums apparently also thickens gums and makes it harder to cut the teeth...

I agree with the popsicles, something cold on their teeth really helps. My kids love popsicles, but my Ethiopian kids think that they are too cold, and don't particulary like them.

Aaaw, poor bub. Yeah, the fever was probably due to teething (thank goodness). Infant Tylenol helped when Biset complained about her teeth.

Oh dude, not the canines? In this house, the canines were far, far worse than the molars. Poor little guy. :(

Oh man, teething sucks! I remember how sad it was to see moses fevering when his molars came in. Does he at least become cuddling when his feeling bad? Or is he a crankster??

I'd stay away from those homeopathic Hyland's teething tablets. They contain a form of opiate that basically drugs your child into a non-crying state. Health products are not regulated by the FDA, so they can put whatever they want in there. Look online about them...pretty scary stuff. Good ol' cool clothes that have been in the freezer a bit to gnaw on and a bit of baby advil should do the trick to help him feel more comfortable.

I meant cloths, not clothes!! But, whatever...maybe he'd enjoy a tasty frozen sock or a yummy frozen blouse?

Teething is so not fun! Poor him, poor you! My little Ruby is working on a few right now too! I swear by the homeopathic tablets too! Hope they pop through soon and you will all feel relief!

To help with drooling I recommend an amber teething necklace. You can easily buy them online just make sure you measure his neck. You don't want it long enough for him to put into his mouth. It should rest against his skin under his clothes.
