Update from Agency

Yesterday we got an update from our agency on our file which told us the following:

1. Signed up with agency May 31, 2007
2. Dossier went to Ethiopia November 2007
3. Requesting infant under 12 months either gender

So, as you can see they didn't really tell us anything that we didn't already know.

Well, that is not exactly true...they did tell us that wait times have increased since the last update in January (umm...well...ok. March) which had times for infants under 24 months at 9-12 months...they are now saying the wait time for this age range is 8-15 months....aaaarrrrggggh! Just when we had reached what we thought was the half-way mark....

I know that the agency isn't to blame for this....the program in Ethiopia has grown substantially in the last year...there are now almost 60 adoption agencies operating in Ethiopia. This is in part because people are turning away from the China program because the wait times have almost tripled there and switching over to Ethiopia. They are now saying something like referrals for China will come in 2016 for those signing up now. CRAAAAAZZZZZY!

So, last night I was one unhappy camper and ranted and raved about this fact with some friends of ours who dropped over for a visit - I mean no one wants to hear that wait times have increased...but as I tell everyone else - "a couple more months waiting is better than never!" Time I take my own advice!!!

We also learned that the agency has found a new home for the kidlets to live in and this one has a nice big back yard...the house seemed quite large too and looked very new which is fantastic!

I guess I better "hitch up my boot straps" or whatever the expression is and hunker down for a longer wait than anticipated and keep myself busy.

What better way to keep oneself busy than to sign for a Half Marathon training clinic!!! Yup! I am one crazy chickadee but now I can leave all my frustration, anger and sadness out on the running paths! Watch out Queen City Marathon - This will be one ferocious "Momma-in-waiting" come September - I am going to remember to pee before the race and will rip up the course - ha ha ha!

I didn't get an inspiration yesterday so I am going to leave you with one of my favourite motto's:

Monday's Inspiration - Day 21 (courtesy of Moi)

Life's regrets are not the things we did but the things we didn't do!

Tuesday's Inspiration - Day 22

I arise today...
Through the strength of heaven:
Light of Sun,
Radiance of moon,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of wind,
Depth of sea,
Stability of earth,
Firmness of rock.

-Saint Patrick, 5th century patron saint of Ireland

Much love from the crazy running gal!

Oh the wait time increases SUCK! You get to a certain point, and you think the end is in sight, and then it gets farther away again! Well you are a runner, so maybe a running metaphor is in order: It's like running a marathon, and just when you get to where you can see the finish line... they move it!

I know it's nobody's fault, but that sometimes doesn't make it any easier. It's so hard to have patience.

But it sounds like you've got a good way to keep your mind engaged (not to mention your body) while you wait! Well done you! I'll be the one in the comfy chair, applauding you from the sidelines!

I am sorry about the wait increase Rana. You are right though that more and more people are choosing Ethiopia and that is to be expected. I really can't wait to congratulate you on your day. Thanks so much for your kind words. I am so full of every emotion right now that I could burst!!
love, Natasha

Hey girl,

Yep, we gotta stick tight together, we can do this!! Hitch up your boots, put on your big girl panties, whatever, just hang tight :)

Hugs,

lol at the big girl panties comment. Does that really make you feel better?
I noticed on the new wait times that they changed the minimum time from 9 months to 8 months, maybe that will translate into a QUICKER time for you guys? My fingers are crossed.

When I got the update I chose to focus on the 8 months part - not the 15 months.

Sending positive vibes your way,

haze

p.s. Deb gave a FANTASTIC talk in Cowtown last week - have you met her? I recommend you do, if you get the chance.

I'm right here in the waiting with you- at the 7 month mark hoping for the estimated 8 months but preparing myself (well trying to!) for the 15 month wait... I was so discouraged after reading the "update" (although very happy about the new transition house- I so didn't want my kids in a home where only one floor has access to the outside air and that being on a deck...). We know there are kids who need families, now if only they could remember where our paperwork is all stashed so they can match us...

Way to go on the running- we're going to Wpg to watch a marathon (well the start or the end anyways) does that count for anything???

Ramona yes, watching definitely counts...it means a lot to the people running to have people cheering - if you can make it to another area of the course to cheer you should - it is so energizing to see people out clapping and yelling :)
