Yup, that's gross. But if it makes you feel any better, our dog does it too if she possibly can. We've since moved the litter box out of reach of the dog.
My dog used to be a deer poop eater - she loved walks in the woods!
I highly recommend the top entry litter boxes to keep our canine friends out of the kitty litter - they are great!

Oh, he does look VERY cute. Our dog is also a poop-eater. Cat poop. Dog poop. Rabbit poop. All manner of poop. Makes it often pretty difficult to think of him as cute. But, yeah, he still is.
What, is this poop week in blogdom? So gross. SOOOO GROSS. Although, at least you don't have to clean anything up. That's a bonus.

it is gross, our dogs also did it but then we made a cat door to the basement where we keep the litter - it wouldn't work for your puppy though - he is smaller than our cats and could get through the door!
Hahaaha. Our pugshire does this too. We eloquently call them 'kitty cookies'.... haha. Just be sure you don't have clumping cat litter... it's murder on the dogs innards! You're not alone, though.... it's a fight to keep our Stella out of the litterbox.

By the way, we used to live with my mom for a year while searching for our house... and after we moved out... she told us "Man, the cat has been pooping a LOT since you left!". We were over visiting once when we caught our dog eating the cat poo in the litterbox, and then realized she'd been keeping the litterbox quite clean for the better part of a year!

Yes, our dog Cocoa was a poop eater too...any poop....and imaging living on the farm with cows....poop, poop, poop......and don't get me started on the cow afterbirth...nasty...!
